01) Basic Vocational Skills Developing Training Center – 2013

To pay support costs to the Prathiba Media Network for the Youth Empowerment Grant program entitled: Project for starting a basic vocational skills developing training Center for rural youths and conducting it.
Period of Time –
Project period is 06 months
Expected purposes –
➢ Strengthening personal skills such as basic computer knowledge, basic English knowledge, taking decisions, youth development, and communication and acting to achieve a target.
➢ Improving the basic knowledge of computer and information technology and usage of the language within the youth community.
➢ Acting as a coordination center of making out job opportunities for the sake of unemployed rural youth community and getting information.
➢ Acting as a counseling youth center to find solutions to the problems faced by the rural youths.
➢ Laying the basic foundation for planning their future in a satisfied manner there is no poverty.
➢ Providing a respectable vocational value for rural youths
Community covered by the project –
Youth Community between 15 and 25 years of age residing in the divisional secretariat areas of Kamburupitiya, Mulatiyan, Hakmana, Thihagoda and Krinda Puhulwella in the district of Matara
Initiation of project activities and their progress –
The project functioned under several activities for the development of youths. The progress and success achieved is described below separately.
For carrying out this project a training centre named Basic Vocational Skills Developing Training centre was begun on the 31st of October, 2013
• Grammatical and practical knowledge training in Basic English language is given to 120 youths.
• Training courses in Basic computer course and information technology is given to 100 youths.
• Training courses in social media and information technology are given to 40 youths.

02) Skills Developing Training Programe – 2015
To pay support costs for a project implemented with a view to developing basic professional skills. In Sri Lanka, about 235000 youths sit the Advanced Level exam a year. In the recent years about 150000 out of them passed it with marks adequate to enter the universities only a few students about 25000 are admitted to universities.
Period of Time –
Project period is 12 months
Expected purposes –
➢ These projects is expected to carry out certain activities for the well-being of rural youth community who has left school and are between 15-25 years of age, under two main stages.
➢ Imparting the knowledge of basic vocational skills development to a larger number of youths by improving the facilities in the basic vocational skills developing center.
➢ Conducting 03 four months practical training sessions in order to give a basic knowledge of English language to 120 youths.
➢ Having 03 four months practical training courses for the task of stepping up basic knowledge of computer.
➢ Arranging 03 four months practical training courses aimed at improving the knowledge of social media.

The project functioned under several activities for the development of youths. The progress and success achieved is described below separately.
Having started this project on the 1st of November, 2015, it was in progress for 12 months continuously.
• Conducting 03 four months practical training sessions in order to give a basic knowledge of English language to 81 youths –
• Having 03 four month practical training courses for the task of stepping up basic knowledge of computer to 96 youths
• Arranging 03 four months practical training courses aimed at improving the knowledge of social media to 75 youths.
